NEXT Hotel - Brisbane

Updated: Jun 8, 2021

NOTE THAT THIS HOTEL HAS BEEN REBRANDED TO HYATT REGENCY BRISBANE

A technological advance hotel in the heart of Brisbane CBD, I have booked a 2 night stay in this trendy hotel. Let's see what it has to offer.

I originally booked a crash pad room, which is the cheapest of rooms they have available. The crash pad room is a double bed made from sofa, which can be retracted into a sofa when not in use. The room is 16sqm which isn't big. The room however does come with all the tech and luxury you can expect from any other rooms. After I enter into the room, I got told the Samsung smart phone that can be used for controlling the room is out of service and got taken away by the maintenance people, which wasn't a big deal for me as the switches would still work, however I found the bathroom lighting wasn't working as well when I try to turn them on. After informing reception, they have given me an upgrade (which I assume is to the Superior room), they are located on the upper levels.

This upgraded room is more spacious, a fairly large working desk, and a good view of the city. The concierge who helped me with my luggage ensure that all the things work inside the room before leaving, and we had a little chat about where to go on my very first visit to Brisbane. He also told me that once you check in, the reception can power everything on just through their system, given everything is connected. You can also take the Samsung phone with you while you are out, which allow you to control your room remotely.

The bathroom is an open plan, with a sliding wooden door hidden along with the wall which provides a separation when needed, the wardrobe is built in the bathroom which gives it a walk in wardrobe feels, a similar design to the crash pad room.

My booking comes with complimentary breakfast, every morning I could get a freshly cooked meal from their menu and also a small range of self service fruits, bread and drinks.

The hotel is located on the main shopping strip of Brisbane, right in front is where the Myer centre is located, and there are many other shops within a few steps. A large food court is located within Myer Centre with a good selection, if you want to have some cheapish food and not having to go far.

The hotel is located right in the city centre, so parking can be hard to come by. The hotel has an agreement with Myer centre to provide guests with discounted parking rates, you can find out through their website. I have only parked there once and since the rest were weekends, I found on street parking a block away for free.
