Cheapest private hot springs in Taipei?

Updated: Oct 28, 2021

During my 18 hours layover in Taipei, I went to the Beitou district, where you can find many hotels offering hot spring. There is an option for public or private bath, I went with the private option, where I have the room for 2 hours with full hotel amenities and a double bed to rest.

PRICE:

Let's talk price, on a public bath, you are probably paying around NT$400 for an all day pass. Private room can be largely different depending on hotels, type of room and duration of stay. This room I am in is probably the cheapest, cleanest and offer the most amenities comparing to other private hot spring around this price range. I paid NT$1680 for 2 hours and if you don't need the bed, it will be around NT$1200 for 1.5 hours; however given it will be the exact same price per hour if you calculate it, the bed and 2 hour private room seem to be the best option.

ROOM + SPA + AMENITIES:

The room is like a typical hotel room, with the added spa bath area. There is a balcony area however there isn't any furniture for you to chill out and it is too hot to be hanging outside. There are 2 separate spa tub, one with only cold water and the other with cold/hot water, but be mindful the tub takes a long time to fill up, so make sure to get it filled up as soon as you get into the room. There is cold water in the mini fridge, and an extra bottle of water on the desk. Along with the room is a private shower and toilet, a large TV and a double bed. The reception will give you a call 10 minutes before the end of your stay.

AFTER SPA TREATS:

A voucher is given when you check in, which you can redeem at the cafe after you check out for a glass of juice or a cup of tea/coffee of your choice. You also get a small piece of cake and biscuits to enjoy.

SERVICE:

The staff are friendly and there were no major issues with staff, however outside the room it was pretty loud with people talking and there seems to be renovation or fixing going on, which can be bothering since people are there to get a peaceful treatment.

HOW TO GET THERE?

It is about an hour from Taipei Central, taking the MRT to Beitou station, and then it is an easy transfer to the Xinbeitou line towards Xinbeitou station, and a short walk to the Beitou Hot Springs Resort. It can be done in 4 hours but do not recommend to anyone who is in a rush. If you have extra time, you can book an overnight stay and enjoy the hot spring all night right inside your room.
